the thing about adults watching shows meant for literal children (Bluey, Miraculous Ladybug, etc) is like. obviously you have to be normal about posting in the show's tag so the aforementioned literal children don't see your smut fic, i feel like that is pretty well established from the MLP brouhaha and im preaching to the choir on that front. what i need adult fans of childrens' shows to understand is that they always automatically lose any argument they get into with adult non-fans about how great and deep the show is because of one key fact: they are adult fans of a childrens' show. "you are 26 years old and just wrote 7 paragraphs about She-Ra" is the debate equivalent of an unparriable instant kill command grab

listen my autistic ass watches mostly cartoons but never in a million years do i think its normal to write literal smut about something made for kids enjoy whatever just dont be weird you can like stuff that isnt made for you as long as you think critically when navigating spaces that arent for you kids shows can be well written and have substance and if you enjoy media analysis it can be fun to think about the themes and everything adults make the kids shows so there can be interesting narrative stuff there but in the case of like bluey or mlp or miraculous (idk abt she-ra) like yeah theres not much there outside of the fact that bluey was written with the intention to have /something/ for parents to enjoy bc otherwise theyd be bored out of their minds bc yk it was made for toddlers

I love how different forms of art are all obsessed with each other. A book tries to capture the feeling of music, a painting tries to depict a scene in a book, a song tries to paint a picture. And it's always insufficient. No single form of art can encapsulate another form of art and capture the essence of it – but it tries, and its attempts are impossibly compelling.
